Used Cirrus SR22 Buyer's Guide: Configuration and Records

A used SR22 review should establish the actual configuration, maintenance status and buyer's training and insurance path before price comparisons. Generation labels and an attractive panel do not replace records for the engine, airframe, CAPS, installed equipment and approved changes. FAA: AD applicability and compliance provides the supporting reference or documentation route for this review.

Organize the pre-purchase evidence

  1. Do the serial number, engine, propeller, avionics, ice-protection and other installed systems match the advertisement, manuals and supplements?
  2. What does a Cirrus-capable provider identify for applicable inspections, CAPS and other component status, prior damage or repairs and unresolved discrepancies?
  3. Have the buyer's intended pilots, transition training, loading, mission and operating area been presented to the instructor and insurer for specific requirements?

Turn the review into a decision

Obtain an agreed independent inspection scope and a written first-year work forecast. Separate immediate maintenance, training and optional upgrades from recurring operation, then compare another candidate on the same documented basis before agreeing how findings affect closing.

Use the applicable documents

The Cirrus: SR Series technical publications suite helps identify the manufacturer's documentation or support route. Match the model, serial number, current equipment and approved changes with the provider; a publication library does not itself certify a candidate aircraft or quote its maintenance.

The FAA explanation of aircraft manuals distinguishes aircraft-specific approved information from general reference material. Retain the manual revision, applicable supplements, loading record and equipment list with the candidate's file so another reviewer can check the same configuration.

This checklist does not establish a particular aircraft's airworthiness, component deadlines, insurability or a universal purchase price.

For purchase planning, connect verified findings with the buyer checklist and ownership budget. Keep provider quotations separate from estimates and optional improvements.
