The Next Lender Buys Your Records, Not Your Paint

What you do during ownership is the collateral file for the refinance or the replacement airplane. Residual value as a market story is on why some types hold value. This page is the maintenance of your own file.

What moves the next appraisal

What barely moves it

New paint and leather help a retail sale and rarely support new principal by themselves. Do them because you want them or because a specific buyer requires them, not because you think a lender will lend the invoice back to you later. Keep every invoice anyway. The next appraiser will ask.

Once a year, look at loan balance versus a honest asking price. If the balance is catching the value, pay principal down. That is the entire trick of not being upside down when you want the next airplane. The calculator’s extra-payment line shows the interest you save. Your own asking-price honesty shows whether you can trade.

Questions buyers actually ask

Should I buy the most expensive avionics package to protect resale?

Buy the package a typical buyer of that model expects, installed under a documented STC. Beyond that, you are decorating.

Does hangaring guarantee a higher loan later?

It prevents the corrosion and sun damage that lower the appraisal. It does not guarantee a number. It removes a reason to cut one.
