SBA Financing Is a Business Loan That Sometimes Includes an Airplane

The SBA does not have a consumer aircraft program. A personal airplane for recreation is not an SBA use. A business that needs an aircraft to operate — a pipeline patrol, an on-demand carrier, a flight school — sometimes finances that aircraft inside an SBA-guaranteed loan from a participating lender. Rules, size standards, and fees change. Confirm the current SOP on sba.gov and with a lender who actually does the program. This page is the distinction, not a promise of eligibility.

7(a) versus 504

Tradeoffs versus a specialty aircraft lender

SBA files ask for more business history, projections, and a use that matches the guaranty. They can take longer than a conventional aircraft closing. They are the wrong tool if the airplane is mostly personal, if you need to close in two weeks, or if the business cannot service the payment without optimistic utilization. Price the payment in the calculator with zero hoped-for new revenue. If that fails, an SBA guarantee does not fix it.

Questions buyers actually ask

Will SBA finance a single-engine trainer for a new school?

Only if a participating lender and the program rules say the business qualifies. A new school with no revenue is a hard 7(a) file. It is not automatic.

Does Jaken Aviation issue SBA loans?

No. Jaken Aviation is a brokerage, not an SBA lender and not a CDC.
